Director, Construction

About the role

The Director, Construction provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all construction activities across Aga Khan University Pakistan. Reporting to senior leadership, this role ensures that capital construction projects are planned, executed, and delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement long‑term construction strategies aligned with the university’s growth and infrastructure plans.
• Advise senior leadership and the Board on project feasibility, risks, budgets, timelines, and progress.
• Establish governance frameworks, policies, standards, and best practices for construction delivery.
• Lead the full lifecycle of capital projects—from planning and design through procurement, execution, commissioning, and close‑out.
• Monitor contractor, consultant, and supplier performance to ensure contractual compliance and quality.
• Manage capital budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and identify cost‑saving and value‑engineering opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal academic, clinical, administrative, and operational stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in construction management, preferably in large‑scale, multi‑disciplinary environments.
• Strong understanding of construction governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex budgets and deliver projects on schedule.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
