Engineering Manager – Lead Cloud Software Development

About the role

Dubizzle Labs is expanding its engineering hub in Karachi and seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the design and delivery of cloud‑based products that serve millions of users across ten countries. You will guide a high‑performing technical team, champion engineering excellence, and ensure the platform scales reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, design and develop cloud software applications.
• Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, Design, UX, CLM and Strategy teams to deliver high‑quality products.
• Enforce agile practices such as test‑driven development, continuous integration and test automation.
• Work with offshore teams on architectural and delivery challenges.
• Prioritise technical backlog, balancing immediate needs with long‑term goals.
• Analyse and remediate production issues, building fault‑tolerant, operationally ready solutions.
• Own non‑functional requirements, architectural direction, code quality and technical debt.
• Mentor engineers, hire top talent and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
• Lead the team technically while acting as project and product manager.
• Ensure the highest security standards for all platforms and infrastructure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of server/client‑side software development experience.
• Minimum 3 years in a management role with people‑ and performance‑management responsibilities.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and delivering scalable, high‑availability systems.
• Hands‑on experience with open‑source development using languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript and Objective‑C.
• Strong background in operations, live production monitoring, remediation and incident management.
