Fired Heaters & Furnace Inspector

About the role

The position involves performing comprehensive inspections of fired heaters and furnaces at refineries or petrochemical plants. The successful candidate will ensure the integrity and safety of heater systems, refractory linings, and associated components through rigorous assessment and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct internal and external inspections of fired heaters, including radiant and convection sections, burners, stacks, and related components.
• Inspect refractory linings of furnaces, stacks, and fireboxes and evaluate condition for repair or replacement.
• Examine furnace tubes for external corrosion, erosion, hot spots, bulging, and sagging; coordinate with NDE examiners for thickness measurements.
• Witness burner inspections, fuel‑gas train inspections, and verify safety interlocks.
• Review and interpret heater drawings, tube layouts, and refractory detail drawings.
• Administer or witness DPT and MPT on furnace tube welds and fittings.
• Witness hydrostatic testing of furnace tube circuits and document results.

Required profile

• API 560 or ASME Section I certification, or equivalent knowledge.
• Minimum 10 years of furnace/heater inspection experience in oil & gas environments.
• Strong knowledge of API 573 and related heater/furnace codes.
• Hands‑on experience with refractory, tube, and burner inspection activities.
• Relevant project experience in construction, QA/QC, and commissioning of O&G facilities.
• Valid certificates must be provided with the CV.
