General Manager, Commercial

About the role

The General Manager – Commercial will lead the commercial function of a leading modern retail and grocery business in Pakistan. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for driving topline growth, enhancing customer value, and expanding margins across buying, category management, pricing, and supplier partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business targets into annual commercial and category plans and build growth roadmaps.
• Lead buying and category management, own assortment architecture, and conduct data‑driven category reviews.
• Own pricing decisions, balance competitiveness with profitability, and manage front and back margin performance.
• Negotiate annual commercial agreements with key suppliers and develop strategic supplier partnerships.
• Manage the commercial calendar, promotional planning, and trading rhythm to improve promotion effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure execution excellence.

Required profile

• 10–15+ years of commercial leadership experience in grocery retail, FMCG, or modern trade.
• Proven track record of delivering sales growth, margin improvement, and high customer satisfaction.
• Strong commercial acumen with a customer‑first mindset and hands‑on analytical capability.
• Effective leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
