Head of Engineering, Field Verification

About the role

Moniepoint Inc., Africa's all-in-one financial platform, is hiring a Head of Engineering, Field Verification in Pakistan. Field Verification confirms that customers and businesses on the platform are real: it runs physical, in-person checks for individuals, business owners, addresses and loan guarantors, supporting onboarding, loans, compliance and the fraud team. The current team is a lean squad of an Engineering Manager, four engineers and a QA, and the role sets the technical direction and builds the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy, architecture and roadmap of the Field Verification platform and move it from keep-the-lights-on to prioritised development.
• Lead and grow the cross-functional team as scope expands.
• Build the operational efficiency layer: trip and route optimisation, task allocation and capacity management for field officers.
• Own the client-facing surface: the APIs and webhooks other units use, and the back office they rely on.
• Deliver a native mobile experience for field officers.
• Ensure verification data is structured, auditable and compliant.
• Build for multi-country expansion and partner with Product and the dependent business units.
• Define architecture standards, engineering processes and quality metrics, and hire and develop engineers and Engineering Managers.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with strong backend depth; backend environment is Java and Spring Boot.
• At least 5 years of engineering leadership, including managing Engineering Managers.
• Built platforms used by multiple user groups and business units, and grown into leadership from hands-on engineering.
• Capable across backend, web and mobile; adaptable problem solver with a background across industries such as fintech, e-commerce or logistics.
• Strong collaboration with product and business stakeholders.
