HVAC Technician (Data Center & Critical Infrastructure)

About the role

Fortek is hiring a Technician - HVAC (Data Center & Critical Infrastructure) to support the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of HVAC and precision cooling systems for data centers and mission-critical projects across Pakistan. The position is based at the head office in Islamabad with frequent or occasional travel to project sites, and requires willingness to travel nationwide.

Key responsibilities

• Install, test and commission HVAC and precision cooling systems such as DX units, VRF/VRV, chillers, CRAC/CRAH, PAC, AHU and FCU units, and support piping, ducting, insulation and refrigerant charging
• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot cooling inefficiency, refrigerant leaks and electrical/control issues, and respond to breakdowns within SLA timelines
• Maintain maintenance logs, service reports and asset records, and support audits, inspections and client reporting
• Coordinate with engineers, vendors and subcontractors, assist during client handovers and acceptance testing, and guide junior technicians
• Follow HSE policies, toolbox talks and PPE requirements, and ensure compliance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, manufacturer guidelines and environmental regulations

Required profile

• Diploma, graduate or intermediate qualification; DAE/Diploma in HVAC, Mechanical Technology or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or a recognized technical certification
• 2-5 years of relevant experience in HVAC systems for data centers, mission-critical facilities, SLA-based service or large commercial/industrial projects
• Ability to read drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and control systems
• Knowledge of refrigerants, charging methods and leak detection; basic understanding of BMS/monitoring systems
• Preferred: refrigeration/gas handling certification, OEM training (CRAC, VRF, chillers), HSE and first aid training
