Manager Risk Oversight & Assurance

About the role

The Manager Risk Oversight & Assurance is a key member of the Operational Risk team, acting as part of the second line of defence. Based in Karachi, this role strengthens the bank’s operational risk framework by overseeing risk and control assessments, assurance activities, and the resolution of audit findings.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Risk and Control Assessment (RCA) programme across the organisation, challenging results and identifying emerging risks.
• Collaborate with business units, risk owners and Group Support Functions to ensure timely completion of assessments and effective remediation.
• Conduct independent, sample‑based reviews of key operational controls, evaluating design and operating effectiveness.
• Oversee the control validation programme, ensuring methodologies align with best practices and regulatory expectations.
• Monitor implementation of action plans, track remediation progress and report on the status of operational risk issues.
• Identify opportunities to enhance the RCA and assurance programmes through best‑practice adoption and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operational risk management, preferably within banking or financial services.
• Strong understanding of regulatory risk requirements (e.g., FINMA, HKMA, UAE CB, SBP, OSFI, PRA/FCA).
• Demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally with risk, control and business stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, risk management, or a related field.
