Operating Room Assistant / CSSD Technician

About the role

The Operating Room Assistant / CSSD Technician supports surgical and dental procedures by preparing, sterilising and maintaining instruments and the operating theatre environment. Working remotely with the university’s clinical team, the role ensures that all equipment is ready, sterile and functional for safe patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and arrange surgical and dental instruments for each procedure.
• Perform chemical sterilisation and instrument decontamination following strict protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the operating theatre and related areas.
• Assist with patient handling and positioning before and after operations.
• Monitor and replenish surgical inventory and supplies.
• Coordinate with hospital departments to ensure timely delivery of equipment.
• Record and report equipment malfunctions or sterilisation issues.
• Keep accurate documentation of sterilisation processes and equipment usage.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in operating room assistance or CSSD.
• Proficiency in sterilisation techniques, chemical sterilisation and instrument decontamination.
• Strong understanding of infection control standards.
• Ability to work independently under supervisory direction.
