Principal Software Engineer I

About the role

The Principal Software Engineer I will join Zones’ Digital Innovation Center, driving the architecture and development of the Zones Digital Platform – a next‑generation SaaS solution for IT supply‑chain management. Reporting to the digital transformation team, you will help shape a $2 billion enterprise’s technology strategy and deliver scalable cloud‑native services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain enterprise‑grade SaaS components in private data centres and public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Lead the end‑to‑end development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through deployment and operations.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects and cross‑functional teams to define technical roadmaps.
• Implement agile practices, continuous integration and automated testing to ensure high quality releases.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in distributed system design.

Required profile

• Strong background in computer science and distributed systems.
• Proven experience delivering scalable SaaS platforms in cloud or private‑data‑center environments.
• Hands‑on expertise with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud services.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and e‑commerce or marketplace domains.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a passion for innovative technology.
