Project Engineer

About the role

Plan, execute and manage capital projects and engineering improvement initiatives at an AkzoNobel manufacturing site, ensuring safety, schedule, budget and quality standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Lead CAPEX projects from planning through execution, commissioning and hand‑over.
• Develop and monitor project budgets, timelines, scope, quality and resource requirements.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, PSM, SAQ, MOC, Enablon, BBS and relevant engineering standards.
• Manage contractors and third‑party vendors to guarantee safe and efficient execution.
• Identify and drive process improvements, cost optimisation and reliability enhancements.
• Prepare business cases and provide engineering input for process and equipment modifications.
• Coordinate with production, maintenance, HSE, procurement and other site functions.
• Oversee engineering materials, stores, spares, vendors and related expenditures.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proven experience in CAPEX project planning, execution, budgeting and contractor management.
• Hands‑on knowledge of HSE, risk assessment, PTW and MOC procedures.
• Working knowledge of engineering standards, construction activities, electrical and mechanical systems and technical drawings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; project‑management certifications are a plus.
