Remote Physics Expert - AI Evaluation

About the role

Turing, an AI company working with leading AI labs to advance frontier models and build real-world AI systems, is hiring a remote Physics Expert. You will help fine-tune large language models by designing and solving challenging physics problems, probing their limits and helping define new evaluation benchmarks across physics curricula from early undergraduate to PhD level.

Key responsibilities

• Create and solve challenging physics problems that test the boundaries of large language models.
• Write clear, high-quality step-by-step solutions with detailed, articulated reasoning.
• Work with LLM researchers to align task designs with evaluation goals, focusing on areas where models struggle such as symbolic manipulation, abstraction and multi-step reasoning.
• Help define and build new evaluation benchmarks across physics topics.

Required profile

• Degree or doctorate in Physics, Applied Physics or an equivalent technical field.
• Strong foundation in physics, from advanced engineering entrance level through graduate and PhD-level concepts.
• Experience in AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, quality assurance or a similar analytical role is preferred but not required.
• Exceptional written communication, able to give constructive feedback and detailed annotations remotely.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, remote-first setup.

• Personal desktop or laptop with a stable, high-speed internet connection.

What we offer

• Contract engagement of 12 weeks.
• At least 4 hours per day and up to 40 hours per week, with 4 hours of overlap with PST time.
