Senior Academic Researcher (Remote)

About the role

This remote position focuses on independent academic‑style research aimed at evaluating and improving artificial intelligence systems. You will design rigorous experiments, analyse results, and publish findings that help make AI models safer and more reliable across multiple domains.

Key responsibilities

• Design and run controlled experiments to probe AI model behaviour under diverse conditions and edge cases.
• Document quantitative results, qualitative observations, and actionable recommendations in structured reports.
• Identify recurring failure patterns or biases and propose targeted improvements to model architecture or training data.
• Collaborate with external contributors and academic peers to validate hypotheses and refine methodologies.
• Stay current with AI research trends, benchmark datasets, and evaluation frameworks.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience designing and conducting empirical AI studies with a focus on reproducibility.
• Strong record of publishing research findings in peer‑reviewed venues or technical reports.
• Excellent written communication skills.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• AI/ML libraries such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Data analysis tools including pandas and NumPy.
• Statistical analysis, experimental design and hypothesis testing.
