Senior Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Careem is looking for a Senior Software Engineer I – Backend to help build highly scalable and robust services for the Everything App. You will join a fast‑moving AI‑focused team and contribute to products that simplify mobility, food, payments and more across the Middle East.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services.
• Write high‑quality, performant, and reliable code while handling defined tasks and bugs independently.
• Interpret functional specifications and deliver complete features end‑to‑end.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and resolve incidents within defined SLAs.
• Engage in agile ceremonies and continuously improve engineering practices.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience operating online systems reliably, including production deployments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one modern OOP language (Java, C#, C++, Golang, Kotlin).
• Experience with Java Spring framework.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or AWS.
• Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with relational and non‑relational databases.
