Senior Data Warehouse Architect

About the role

Prima Systems is looking for an experienced Data Warehouse Architect to design, develop, optimize and maintain scalable, reliable and high-performance data warehouse solutions. The role focuses on Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, PostgreSQL, data modeling, ETL processes and analytical query optimization. Candidates must have relevant data warehouse experience and be willing to work onsite in Islamabad.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain data warehouse architectures using SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including dimensional models, star and snowflake schemas.
• Develop and maintain ETL packages with SSIS, extracting, transforming, validating and loading data from SQL Server, PostgreSQL, APIs, flat files and other applications.
• Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, indexes and execution plans, and implement indexing, partitioning and aggregation strategies.
• Build and maintain SSRS reports, including parameterized and drill-down reports, and schedule them via SQL Server Agent.
• Manage data loading strategies (full, incremental, historical, CDC) and data validation, reconciliation and quality checks.
• Maintain data dictionaries, ETL mappings, data lineage and documentation; support BI teams with well-structured datasets.
• Implement security, access controls, backups, recovery and data retention, and manage schema changes and migrations with minimal disruption.
• Collaborate with engineering, BI, DevOps and infrastructure teams and identify improvements to architecture and performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, data engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in data warehousing, SQL development, ETL development or a related data engineering role.
• Strong SQL, dimensional modeling and data quality knowledge; strong analytical, troubleshooting and documentation skills.
