Senior PHP Developer

About the role

You will be responsible for developing and continuously improving a web and e‑commerce platform, focusing on PHP, WordPress and WooCommerce. The role is hands‑on, involving custom backend development, performance optimisation and integration of AI‑powered features.

Key responsibilities

• Develop clean, secure, maintainable PHP 8.x code and complex backend functionality.
• Build and maintain custom WordPress and WooCommerce plugins, APIs and integrations.
• Optimise MySQL databases, SQL queries and overall application performance.
• Develop REST APIs and integrate with systems such as HubSpot, Stripe and AI services.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Product and Engineering teams to improve customer experience and introduce AI‑powered features.

Required profile

• 3+ years of commercial PHP development experience.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work on high‑traffic web applications.
• Ownership mindset with focus on performance, reliability and maintainability.
• Effective communication with both technical and non‑technical colleagues.

Required skills

• PHP 8.x and object‑oriented programming.
• MySQL, SQL query optimisation.
