Senior Section Librarian

About the role

The City School seeks a Senior Section Librarian to lead library services across its campus, enhance learning resources, and support faculty and student research initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage acquisition, cataloguing, classification, and circulation of print and electronic resources.
• Develop and maintain an integrated library system, metadata standards, and discoverability strategies for digital collections.
• Design and deliver information‑literacy workshops, reading programs for students, and professional development sessions for teachers.
• Supervise, coach, and evaluate library staff, assigning duties and monitoring performance.
• Collaborate with academic departments to align resources with curricula and research projects.
• Monitor the library budget, recommend resource allocation, and negotiate vendor contracts.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Library & Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of professional library experience, preferably in an educational setting.
• Proven experience with library management systems and classification schemes.
• Strong background in collection development, e‑resource licensing, and vendor negotiation.
• Ability to design and deliver instructional sessions for diverse student groups.

• MARC and Dewey Decimal classification

• Basic AV troubleshooting
• Circulation statistics, usage analytics, and reporting tools
