Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Conrad Labs is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own significant product areas, navigate ambiguity, lead technical execution, mentor engineers, and deliver production‑quality software. The role requires deep fluency with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or OpenAI Codex to accelerate development while maintaining high standards of quality and security.

Key responsibilities

• Own medium‑to‑large features or workstreams from planning through production across backend, frontend, database, and integration layers.
• Translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical plans, milestones, and validation steps.
• Design maintainable solutions using appropriate architecture patterns and write/review production‑grade code.
• Leverage agentic coding tools for codebase exploration, implementation, testing, refactoring, and debugging.
• Critically review AI‑generated code for correctness, security, performance, and alignment with existing patterns.
• Lead code reviews, design discussions, and improve testing, observability, CI/CD, and release quality.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, reviews, and feedback, raising the team’s bar for responsible agentic workflows.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building production web applications.
• Strong backend, API, database, and system design fundamentals.
• Solid frontend experience, especially with modern web frameworks.
• Proven ability to design and deliver maintainable systems or modules.
• Excellent debugging, root‑cause analysis, and automated testing skills.
• Experience with cloud platforms and production deployment workflows.
• Strong written and verbal communication, able to convey technical trade‑offs to diverse stakeholders.
