Senior Software Engineer (RL Environment)

About the role

We are seeking experienced open‑source contributors to design and build realistic reinforcement‑learning environments that evaluate AI models on complex software‑engineering tasks such as debugging, feature development, refactoring and performance optimisation. The role is fully remote, freelance and project‑based, with flexible workload and payment per completed task.

Key responsibilities

• Create reproducible software‑engineering environments for AI model evaluation.
• Design coding challenges covering bug fixes, new features, refactoring and performance improvements.
• Develop accurate, maintainable reference solutions and production‑quality code for open‑source repositories.
• Implement and optimise algorithms, libraries and system components.
• Investigate and resolve bugs, technical limitations and performance bottlenecks.
• Build automated tests to validate task outcomes.
• Review code and provide clear, constructive feedback.
• Maintain documentation for environments, solutions and implementation decisions.

Required profile

• Public record of meaningful open‑source contributions on GitHub, GitLab or similar platforms.
• Strong software‑engineering experience in at least one of the listed languages.
• Proven ability to debug, extend or refactor production‑level codebases.
• Experience creating reproducible development and testing environments.
