Software Architect – AI/GenAI Systems

About the role

Beam AI is seeking a seasoned Software Architect to define the architectural vision for its next‑generation AI and agentic systems. You will shape how intelligent, autonomous agents are built, reason, learn, and operate at scale, bridging product strategy with deep technical execution.

Key responsibilities

• Define the architecture vision for GenAI, including orchestration, memory, and reasoning layers.
• Design modular, scalable systems supporting LLMs, RAG pipelines, vector databases, and multimodal inputs.
• Architect agentic workflows capable of multi‑step reasoning, autonomous decision‑making, and long‑context operations.
• Lead technical decisions across key systems, ensuring alignment with product goals and cost efficiency.
• Build frameworks for experimentation, model evaluation, and rapid iteration in production.
• Partner with product, ML, and engineering teams to deliver new features quickly and strategically.
• Drive scalability, observability, and reliability across inference, retrieval, and orchestration pipelines.
• Act as a technical voice in leadership conversations and client engagements, translating architecture into business impact.
• Mentor senior engineers, shape design standards, and foster architectural excellence.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years architecting AI/ML systems at scale.
• Proven track record of aligning architecture with business strategy and measurable outcomes.
• Exceptional communication skills for both technical and executive audiences.
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership.

Required skills

• Expertise in large language models (LLMs), agentic frameworks, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), and vector databases.
• Strong backend engineering skills in Node.js, Python, or Go.
• Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and MLOps tooling.
• Experience with orchestration layers and real‑time workflow execution.
