Software Engineer – Enterprise Java Applications

About the role

Habib Bank AG Zurich is hiring Software Engineers for its GEN II technology team, which builds, enhances and maintains enterprise Java-based applications supporting the bank's core and digital platforms. The position is based in Karachi, Pakistan and is full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java applications (JDK 8+, Spring Boot/MVC)
• Build and integrate REST APIs and web services
• Use Hibernate/JPA with MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Write clean code and manage versioning with Git
• Support code reviews, testing and deployments
• Troubleshoot, debug and optimise performance
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps and stakeholders
• Maintain technical documentation

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science from a reputable university, with a minimum CGPA of 3.0
• Experience by role: OG-I / OG-II (0-2+ years), Manager (2-5 years), AVP-II (5+1 years); fresh graduates also considered
• Master's degree with relevant professional certifications
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Banking or financial systems experience is an advantage

Required skills

• Java and Spring technologies for backend roles only, or Angular for frontend roles only
• Solid understanding of RESTful services, API integration, enterprise application development, relational databases and ORM concepts
