Software Engineer – Explainable AI Backend

About the role

QGI is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain backend services for its explainable and accountable intelligence platforms. This full‑time remote position works closely with research and product teams to turn cutting‑edge concepts into production‑ready features.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and micro‑services.
• Write clean, well‑tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate research concepts into production features.
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and improve existing systems.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and enhance development processes and tooling.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in Computer Science, data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Hands‑on experience in software development with proficiency in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Java, C++, Go).
• Practical back‑end web development experience, including RESTful APIs and integration with data storage.
• Solid understanding of Object‑Oriented Programming concepts.
• Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative workflows.
• Familiarity with AI coding systems (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) and agentic coding.
• Beneficial experience with cloud platforms or containerization (AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and communicate clearly.
