Software Engineer II - Backend

About the role

Careem is looking for a Backend Software Engineer II to join its NextGen Engineering programme. You will work on highly distributed systems that power the Careem platform, gaining exposure to large‑scale, high‑traffic services while collaborating with top engineering talent.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain distributed backend services using Java 8 and Spring Boot.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of micro‑service architecture components.
• Write clean, testable code with a strong focus on quality, readability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and other engineers to solve complex problems.
• Participate in an autonomous, cross‑functional agile team and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of professional software development experience.
• Passionate about improving users' lives and delivering high‑quality products.
