About the role
Careem is seeking a Backend Software Engineer II to join the NextGen Engineering team in Lahore. You will work on highly distributed systems that power the Careem platform, focusing on scalability, reliability, and clean code.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain distributed backend services using Java 8, Spring Boot, and micro‑service architecture.
- Ensure code quality, maintainability, and test coverage while collaborating with product owners and designers.
- Scale and optimize services handling user requests, payments, and other core functionalities.
Required profile
- 2‑4 years of professional software development experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong understanding of object‑oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
Required skills
- Java (Java 8)
- Spring Boot
- Micro‑service architecture
- SQL and NoSQL databases
- AWS (knowledge preferred)
