Solar Design Engineer

About the role

Ghulam Faruque Group is looking for a Solar Design Engineer in Karachi. The Design Engineer in the Solar Division develops and executes detailed designs for solar photovoltaic systems and electrical power systems, working closely with cross-functional teams to integrate solar technologies while keeping design quality high and complying with industry regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs and layouts for solar PV systems, including On-Grid, Hybrid and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
• Conduct electrical system design and power flow analysis to ensure system efficiency and reliability.
• Use design software such as AutoCAD, HelioScope, PVSyst and ETAP to create and optimize designs.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement and construction teams to ensure design accuracy and compliance with technical specifications and standards.
• Perform site assessments and feasibility studies to support project development.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports and design calculations needed for project approvals and execution.
• Review and update design drawings and specifications as projects progress.
• Ensure designs comply with local codes, standards and safety regulations for renewable energy systems.
• Assist in troubleshooting design issues during installation and commissioning, and stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices.

Required profile

• 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in solar PV design or electrical power systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement in design processes.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders; no team management responsibilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, HelioScope and other design software used for creating and validating solar systems.
• Power flow analysis and electrical system design.
