Tax Assistant – Tax Preparation & Compliance

About the role

The Tax Assistant will work independently to manage a range of tax matters for Habib Law & Co, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements. You will handle sales tax registration, returns, withholding tax statements, and income tax filings while supporting the broader finance and legal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file income tax returns accurately using the IRIS e‑file system.
• Manage sales tax registrations and file returns on time, maintaining full compliance.
• Handle withholding tax statements and related submissions.
• Maintain organized tax records and documentation for audit readiness.
• Enter and manage financial data in Excel for tax preparation activities.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation (Income Tax Ordinance, Sales Tax Act) and ensure ongoing compliance.
• Analyze tax data, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate with other departments for accurate information.
• Work independently to meet strict filing deadlines.
• Assist with tax planning and compliance strategies to optimize liabilities.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of all tax information.

Required profile

• Minimum of one year of relevant tax experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently without team management responsibilities.
