Technical Advisor (MP-I) - Climate Change

About the role

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Government of Pakistan, invites applications from Pakistani nationals for the position of Technical Advisor (MP-I) in Islamabad. The appointment is on a three-year contract, extendable by up to two more years annually depending on performance, under the Management Position (MP) Scale Policy-2020.

Required profile

• Ph.D./M.Phil or Master's degree in Climate Change, Environmental Sciences, Renewable Energy, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Economics and Policy, Climate Finance or another relevant discipline from a recognized university; candidates with highly cited research publications get preference.
• At least seven years of professional experience for Ph.D. holders and nine years for Master's holders, including three years in senior management, in policy formulation, strategic planning and climate-focused development initiatives.
• Experience in climate-related global organizations, capital markets, climate law firms or climate start-ups is preferred.
• Maximum age of 62 years as of the application deadline.

Required skills

• Knowledge of climate change scenarios at national and international levels, and of policy and strategy formulation for environment management and climate mitigation and adaptation.
• Expertise in climate modelling, financial modelling, policy analysis, MRV, data systems and outcomes analysis.
• Ability to link environment, energy, climate change, SDGs, macroeconomic policy and poverty reduction.
• Understanding of international donors and UN agencies, and experience collaborating with governments, donors, INGOs and civil society.
• Data analysis, report writing and drafting of climate-related legal documents.
