Transactional Finance Assistant (Payroll & Ledger)

About the role

The Transactional Finance Assistant will support the finance function by handling day‑to‑day transactional activities, including ledger management, payment processing and payroll support. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely resolution of queries in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, credit notes and purchase orders; raise sales invoices and manage customer accounts.
• Prepare BACS, CHAPS, direct debit and card payment files while adhering to approval and security controls.
• Assist with timesheet preparation, overtime calculations, deductions and payroll change information.
• Perform bank and supplier statement reconciliations and maintain audit trails.
• Act as the primary contact for supplier, customer and internal finance queries.

Required profile

• Proven experience in transactional finance, accounts payable/receivable or payroll administration.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle high‑volume processing under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with month‑end close activities such as accruals and pre‑payments is desirable.
• Experience in multi‑site or multi‑entity environments is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with accounting software such as Xero or Sage.
