Utilities Manager

About the role

The Utilities Manager ensures the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all utility systems supporting manufacturing operations. The role leads utility asset management, energy optimisation, compliance, infrastructure development and capital projects to maximise plant uptime and support business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain utility systems such as HVAC, chillers, boilers, compressors, generators, RO plants, water systems, cooling towers and ETP, and drive preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
• Improve asset reliability and minimise unplanned downtime.
• Monitor and optimise consumption of electricity, gas, diesel, biomass and water, and lead energy efficiency, resource conservation and sustainability initiatives.
• Lead utility maintenance teams and contractors, manage work planning, resource allocation, competency development and emergency response.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, GMP, water quality, electrical, boiler and pressure-system regulations, and keep contractors safe and audit-ready.
• Lead utility-related CAPEX projects such as asset replacement, reliability improvements, energy reduction, capacity expansion and infrastructure modernisation, including commissioning and handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in manufacturing with a background in engineering, utilities, maintenance, projects or safety/environment functions.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing technical assets, projects or compliance programmes.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of industrial utilities, reliability, safety management and continuous improvement principles.
