Virtual Medical Assistant – Front Desk, Scheduling & Insurance Verification

About the role

We are seeking a Virtual Medical Assistant to provide front‑desk, scheduling and insurance verification support for a growing gastro‑enterology practice. The role is fully remote and involves direct interaction with patients, providers and insurance representatives.

Key responsibilities

• Handle inbound and outbound patient calls, respond to inquiries, and manage appointment requests.
• Schedule, reschedule and coordinate new‑patient visits, follow‑ups, procedures and surgeries using eClinicalWorks.
• Send appointment reminders, preparation instructions and follow‑up communications via phone, email or text.
• Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with chart preparation, intake information and medical documentation.
• Process prescription and medication refill requests according to clinic protocols.
• Verify insurance coverage, document benefits and submit prior‑authorization requests for procedures, medications and visits.
• Track laboratory, pathology and diagnostic results and route information to the appropriate provider.
• Document workflow procedures and help develop standard operating procedures for the clinic.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of hands‑on experience supporting a U.S.‑based medical practice.
• Experience performing both front‑desk/reception and medical‑assistant administrative tasks.
• Strong communication skills with patients and healthcare providers.

Required skills

• Proficiency with eClinicalWorks (eCW) scheduling and documentation.

What we offer

• Remote work with flexible hours (12 PM‑8 PM Central Time).
• Hourly compensation of $5‑$6.
