VP/SVP – Budget & Expense Management

About the role

National Bank of Pakistan is seeking a senior leader to head the Budget & Expense Management function. The role will be based in Karachi and will report to the Divisional Head Administration, overseeing the development, monitoring and control of the bank’s budgets and expenses.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain annual, quarterly and monthly budgets.
• Conduct variance analysis and prepare insightful management reports.
• Design dashboards, automated reporting systems and visualisation tools for budget tracking.
• Forecast scenarios for cost control and strategic decision‑making.
• Supervise expense approvals and ensure proper allocation under the correct heads of account.
• Analyse expense categories, re‑allocate funds when budgets are exhausted and drive reduction of controllable costs.
• Coordinate with Operations, regional branches and other stakeholders on budget, expense and fixed‑asset matters.
• Improve process flows, remove redundancies and respond to queries from field functionaries.

Required profile

• Minimum graduation (Bachelor’s) from a recognised university; Masters in Finance preferred.
• At least 8 years of experience in costing, budgeting, financial analysis or expense management, preferably in the financial sector.
• Strong communication skills to present financial insights to non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Excel.
• SQL.
• Power BI.
• Tableau.
• Familiarity with ERP/Financial systems such as SAP, Oracle or QuickBooks.
• Financial modelling, KPI development and cost allocation methods.
• Data management and reconciliation.
