AI/OCR Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced AI/OCR Engineer to design and deliver production‑grade document intelligence solutions for a complex digital platform. The role focuses on processing scanned documents, photographs, PDFs and multi‑page files, extracting structured information and integrating the results into secure web, mobile and backend workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain end‑to‑end document‑processing pipelines, including ingestion, preprocessing, OCR, classification, field extraction, validation and storage.
• Handle low‑quality, rotated, blurred, handwritten and structurally inconsistent documents.
• Implement confidence scoring, validation rules and fallback mechanisms to minimise hallucinations.
• Evaluate OCR, Document AI and LLM providers for accuracy, latency, cost and reliability.
• Integrate processing services with secure APIs, asynchronous queues and object storage.
• Set up testing, regression evaluation, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and production deployment.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional experience in applied AI, machine learning, OCR or document intelligence.
• Strong production experience with Python.
• Proven track record building OCR/document pipelines and extracting structured data from semi‑structured sources.
• Experience with REST APIs, asynchronous processing, queues and secure handling of sensitive data.
