Divisional Head – Special Assets Management (South) (EVP)

About the role

The National Bank of Pakistan is seeking a senior executive to lead its Special Assets Management function for the South region. Reporting to the Group Head of Special Assets Management, the Divisional Head will drive strategic recovery initiatives for distressed and defaulted assets while ensuring alignment with the bank’s risk and credit policies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans to maximise recovery of distressed assets across the South region.
• Lead and mentor a team of asset‑recovery professionals, providing guidance and performance oversight.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, evaluating financial, legal and market risks associated with each asset.
• Perform detailed asset valuation and determine appropriate remediation strategies.
• Coordinate with legal, credit and compliance functions to ensure adherence to regulatory and policy requirements.
• Prepare and present recovery performance reports to senior management and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in banking or financial institutions, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial role focused on recovery, risk management, corporate or commercial banking.
• Graduation from a recognized university; a master’s degree or relevant professional qualification is preferred.
• Proven ability to make critical decisions under pressure and navigate ambiguous credit situations.
• Strong leadership, communication and negotiation capabilities.

Required skills

• Superior credit risk assessment and judgement.
• In‑depth knowledge of legal documentation related to credit and market risk.
• Comprehensive understanding of bank recovery and credit policies.
