Senior Java Software Engineer

About the role

TapTap Payments is building a unified payment platform for the MENA region. As a Senior Java Software Engineer you will design and deliver highly‑available backend services that power millions of transactions daily.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable Java‑based microservices and APIs using Spring Boot.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend developers and DevOps to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in architectural discussions, code reviews and enforce coding standards.
• Identify and resolve performance, scalability and security issues.
• Guide junior and mid‑level engineers and foster best‑practice development.
• Work with cloud platforms and container orchestration to ensure reliable deployments.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of payment and banking concepts such as acquirers, issuers, settlements, payouts and transaction lifecycles.
• Experience in regulated financial environments and familiarity with PCI‑DSS, ISO 8583, tokenization, KYC/AML.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including data modeling and performance tuning.
• Hands‑on experience with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and caching (Redis) is a plus.
• Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, GCP or Azure) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
