Utility Engineer – Plant Operations

About the role

As a Utility Engineer at Ingredion’s Cornwala Plant, you will ensure reliable production and supply of steam, compressed air, water, and cooling services while driving cost‑saving initiatives and maintaining safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and tune steam boilers to provide consistent steam supply with optimal efficiency.
• Maintain dry, specification‑compliant compressed and instrument air systems.
• Manage canal water pretreatment, soft water preparation and groundwater supply.
• Oversee circulating and chilled water systems, ensuring effective chiller performance.
• Monitor natural gas supply for boilers and coordinate SNG backup operations.
• Run wastewater treatment within NEQS limits and enforce safety protocols.
• Control operation crew, manage spare‑parts inventory and set departmental objectives.
• Handle boiler registration, annual inspections and liaison with gas regulators.

Required profile

• BSc in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of utilities operations experience, including coal‑fired powerhouses and wastewater treatment plants.
• Strong knowledge of utilities operation, maintenance, installation and commissioning.
• Understanding of safety standards for high‑risk utility work.
• Ability to motivate teams and adapt to changing operational demands.
