Head of Mechanical – BOPET Plant

About the role

The Head of Mechanical will lead all mechanical maintenance and engineering activities for a BOPET manufacturing plant, ensuring high equipment reliability and uninterrupted production. This senior position oversees preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs, drives shutdown planning and guarantees compliance with safety and industrial standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all mechanical maintenance activities of the BOPET plant.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs.
• Supervise a team of engineers, supervisors and technicians.
• Maintain critical equipment such as extruders, rollers, chillers, compressors, pumps and utility systems.
• Coordinate maintenance planning and shutdown activities with Production, Electrical and Utility departments.
• Monitor spare‑parts inventory and procure required materials.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, safety standards and maintenance SOPs.
• Manage annual shutdowns, maintenance schedules and plant improvement projects.
• Implement TPM, reliability and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Control maintenance budgets and optimise operational costs.
• Maintain records, reports and equipment history in ERP/SAP systems.
• Liaise with vendors and contractors for maintenance and project activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree advantageous).
• 10–12 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a continuous‑process manufacturing environment, preferably BOPET, BOPP, petrochemical or polymer.
• Proven experience with critical equipment such as extruders, chillers, compressors, pumps and high‑speed production lines.
• Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making and analytical abilities in high‑pressure settings.
• Experience using ERP/SAP for maintenance planning and reporting.
