IT Support Intern – Data Center Network Support

About the role

An IT Support Intern is sought for a one-year position on a new data center project in Tydal, based in Wapda Town, Lahore. The role covers network infrastructure maintenance, L1/L2 support and keeping data center operations highly available. The candidate works onsite in an office, 8 hours a day from 11 AM to 7 PM.

Key responsibilities

• Provide L1/L2 network and IT infrastructure support in the data center
• Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VLAN issues
• Perform rack and stack, structured cabling (copper and fiber) and hardware installations
• Handle hardware break-fix, RMA and component replacement (servers, switches, routers)
• Patch, manage cables and label equipment according to standards
• Document network diagrams, incidents and work done in the ticketing system
• Support escalations with the remote NOC and engineering teams
• Follow data center safety, security and operational procedures

Required profile

• 3 months of proven experience as an IT Support Engineer, Network Support Engineer or Data Center Technician
• Fluent written and spoken English (mandatory)
• After training, must work independently, in shifts and handle physical tasks

Required skills

• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, OSI model, routing and switching
• Hands-on experience with network hardware such as Cisco, Juniper or Arista is preferred
• Cabling, patch panels, QSFPs and fiber optics
• Ticketing tools (Jira, ServiceNow) and monitoring tools; Windows/Linux troubleshooting is a plus
• CCNA or CompTIA Network+ certification highly preferred
