Accounts Officer

About the role

Ghazlai Education Foundation is looking for a diligent Accounts Officer to handle day‑to‑day accounting operations. The role involves processing vouchers, preparing cheques, managing bank transactions, handling withholding tax, and supporting financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare journal and payment vouchers accurately and promptly.
• Prepare cheques for payments after verification and approval.
• Monitor bank balances to ensure sufficient funds for scheduled payments.
• Maintain systematic filing of vouchers and supporting documents for audit purposes.
• Prepare financial and other reports as assigned by the Finance Manager.
• Liaise with banks for transactions, account matters, and related queries.
• Calculate and process withholding tax on salaries, supplies, and services, ensuring correct deduction and timely deposit.
• Perform any other accounts‑related duties assigned by the Finance Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or related field (B.Com / BBA / M.Com preferred).
• 2‑3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an educational institution or non‑profit organization.
• Working knowledge of withholding tax rules and procedures in Pakistan.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with accounting software.
