Application Support Engineer

About the role

The Application Support Engineer will ensure the availability, performance, and reliability of business‑critical applications. You will work closely with development, QA, and infrastructure teams to resolve incidents and improve system stability. This role is ideal for a proactive IT professional with 1–2 years of hands‑on support experience.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain health, availability, and performance of enterprise applications.
• Handle multiple support tickets, meet defined service‑level targets, and ensure timely resolution.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application, database, and system issues.
• Execute SQL queries on Oracle and PostgreSQL databases to validate and retrieve data.
• Collaborate with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and other IT teams to identify root causes and implement permanent fixes.
• Support Windows and Linux environments, diagnosing system and application problems.
• Assist in troubleshooting APIs, system integrations, and connectivity issues.
• Monitor application performance using logging and APM tools, and document incidents and resolutions in the knowledge base.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of experience in Application Support, Technical Support, or Production Support.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Customer‑service orientation with a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• SQL proficiency with Oracle, PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Programming knowledge in Java, Python, C++ or JavaScript.
• Shell scripting experience (Bash or PowerShell) for automation.
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Understanding of REST APIs, application integrations, and web services.
• Experience with application performance monitoring (APM) tools, logging, and IT ticketing systems.
