Assistant Director (ITC Plant Peshawar)

About the role

Pakistan Single Window (PSW) is recruiting on behalf of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA) for an Assistant Director at its ITC Plant in Peshawar. NAFSA is being set up as a national initiative to strengthen Pakistan's agri-trade ecosystem through better regulation, facilitation and modernisation of food safety and trade processes. The selected person will join NAFSA's founding team and supervise phytosanitary inspection and compliance at the assigned point of entry/exit or regional station.

Key responsibilities

• Provide local operational supervision of phytosanitary inspection and compliance for plant imports and exports.
• Supervise inspectors and ensure compliance with notified SOPs for documentary verification, physical inspection, sampling and reporting.
• Coordinate verification of phytosanitary treatments (fumigation, heat/cold treatment, etc.) and their safety compliance.
• Support issuance of phytosanitary certificates for exports and clearance decisions for imports.
• Coordinate with Customs and other border agencies during inspection and clearance.
• Report interceptions, non-compliances, suspected fraud and biosecurity risks and keep official records.
• Maintain local compliance records and submit periodic operational reports to headquarters.
• Support audits, verification missions and field staff training, and perform other duties assigned by the reporting officer.

Required profile

• B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture (minimum sixteen years of education) with specialisation in Entomology, Plant Protection, Plant Pathology, Weed Science or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in plant quarantine, border inspection, export/import compliance or field operations.
• Willingness to work in shift/field environments and at busy border points.

Required skills

• Knowledge of phytosanitary inspection and sampling procedures and relevant SOPs.
• Strong coordination and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
