Assistant Director (SRD Plant)

About the role

Pakistan Single Window (PSW) is recruiting on behalf of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA) for an Assistant Director (SRD Plant) position. NAFSA is being set up as a national initiative to strengthen Pakistan's agri-trade ecosystem through better regulatory oversight, facilitation and modernisation of food safety and trade processes. The selected candidate will join NAFSA's foundational team and help build its systems, processes and institutional capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in formulating national phytosanitary policy and regulatory instruments for the movement of plants, plant products and regulated articles.
• Support the drafting and periodic review of phytosanitary regulations, import conditions, export requirements and pest-specific measures.
• Maintain and update national regulated pest lists, treatment schedules and technical annexes.
• Compile scientific evidence and international references (ISPMs, guidance) to support regulatory justifications and emergency measures.
• Support the preparation of training modules, SOPs and stakeholder guidance on plant SPS measures and trade standards.
• Coordinate internal consultations and keep documentation control and records for plant-related standards and regulations.
• Prepare briefs, explanatory notes and technical correspondence under supervision, and perform other duties assigned by the reporting officer.

Required profile

• B.Sc. (Hons.) (minimum sixteen years of education) in Agriculture, with specialisation in Entomology, Plant Protection, Plant Pathology, Weed Science or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in SPS/plant quarantine support, regulatory drafting assistance or plant protection work.
• Understanding of SPS concepts, IPPC/ISPMs and import-export compliance (preferred).
