Assistant Manager Mechanical – Operations

About the role

Sky47 is seeking an Assistant Manager Mechanical – Operations to ensure the safe, reliable and continuous performance of all mechanical and cooling systems within its data centre. The role combines hands‑on technical work with team leadership, supporting the Mechanical Manager in day‑to‑day operations and emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Mechanical Manager in maintaining HVAC, chilled water, pumps, fire suppression and other critical systems.
• Lead and supervise the on‑floor mechanical team during routine operations, fault resolution and emergency events.
• Plan, execute and document preventive and corrective maintenance for chillers, CRAH units, VRF, CDUs, liquid‑cooling loops, FAHUs and related piping.
• Maintain airflow and thermal performance through containment management, hot/cold aisle control, CFD concepts and CFM calculations.
• Monitor system health via DCIM, BMS and CPM platforms, analyse alarms and trends, and escalate critical issues.
• Ensure compliance with Uptime Institute Tier III/IV standards and data‑centre certification requirements.
• Coordinate with vendors, OEMs and contractors for installations, commissioning and integrations.
• Enforce PTW, LOTO and mechanical safety procedures, mentor junior staff and keep accurate maintenance records.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of experience in mechanical systems operation and maintenance, with at least 4 years in a data‑centre or mission‑critical environment.
• B.E./B.Sc./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Relevant data‑centre certifications (e.g., CDCP, CDCS, CDFOM) are a plus.

Required skills

• HVAC, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, VRF, CDUs, liquid‑cooling systems, pumps, FAHUs and fire‑suppression systems.
• DCIM/BMS/CPM monitoring and alarm analysis.
• Airflow management, containment design, hot/cold aisle strategies, CFD concepts and CFM calculations.
• Knowledge of PTW, LOTO and mechanical safety practices.
• Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier III/IV operational standards.
