Assistant Professor / Senior Registrar – Pulmonology

About the role

The Assistant Professor / Senior Registrar – Pulmonology will join MMC General Hospital to deliver comprehensive clinical care for patients with respiratory and pulmonary diseases. This full‑time, on‑site position involves direct patient management, procedural work, and active participation in academic activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage inpatient and outpatient cases of acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
• Perform pulmonary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and interpret investigations such as spirometry, imaging and laboratory tests.
• Supervise, mentor and teach junior doctors, residents and medical students.
• Contribute to departmental teaching sessions, case reviews and research discussions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, document care accurately and follow hospital protocols.
• Support quality‑improvement and patient‑safety initiatives within the pulmonology department.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialization in pulmonology or internal medicine and relevant postgraduate certification (e.g., FCPS).
• Valid registration with the appropriate medical council and eligibility for hospital credentialing.
• Strong clinical expertise in diagnosing and managing both acute and chronic respiratory diseases.
• Experience in a tertiary‑care or teaching‑hospital environment; prior registrar or assistant‑professor experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, teach and mentor junior medical staff.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills and a commitment to evidence‑based practice and continuous professional development.
