Associate Supply Chain Planner

About the role

Zones, a global IT solution provider and MBE operating in more than 120 countries, is looking for an Associate Supply Chain Planner. The role develops and runs a spend management programme (cradle to grave) for assigned categories and brands, optimises inventory levels and minimises the risk of aged or obsolete stock. It also advises internal customers on purchasing options, pricing negotiations, inventory management, expediting, tracking, follow-up and supplier management.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate with suppliers and vendors on price, availability, payment terms, shipping, returns and timely delivery.
• Manage inventory to keep products available while reducing the risk of aging and obsolescence.
• Advise sales and customer organisations on purchasing and inventory management.
• Execute purchase orders based on demand, cycle time, location, availability and price.
• Work with distributors and manufacturers to set category goals and forecast inventory needs by warehouse location.
• Manage overall spend for the assigned book of business and identify and run cost-saving TCO initiatives.
• Maintain alternate sources for constrained and allocated products.
• Manage people under direct responsibility, which may include associate buyers, pricing and brand pricing/program specialists.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline (mandatory).
• 1-2 years of experience in an offshore/outsourced model within a combined sales, operations and supply chain function; reseller hardware/software industry preferred.
• General understanding of IT products and terminology preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in category and manufacturer terminology and technology.
• Ability to manage others and build professional relationships with manufacturers, suppliers and external sources.
