Attorney & Lawyer Subject Matter Expert (Remote Contractor)

About the role

This is an hourly, remote contractor position with SME Careers, a subsidiary of SuperAnnotate. You will act as a legal Subject Matter Expert, reviewing AI‑generated legal responses, creating expert content, and providing detailed feedback to improve AI model performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training content such as prompts, issue analyses, drafting examples, checklists, policies, and memos.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses for accuracy, clarity, defensibility, and risk awareness.
• Test AI outputs for inaccuracies, misleading certainty, confidentiality risks, and bias, ensuring reliability across legal scenarios.

Required profile

• JD/LLB (or equivalent) and active bar membership (or eligibility) in at least one jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of professional legal experience in any practice area (e.g., contracts, employment, privacy, corporate, litigation, IP, real estate, compliance).
• Strong issue‑spotting and structured legal analysis skills, with ability to identify assumptions and uncertainty.

Required skills

• Legal research and synthesis of primary authority (statutes, regulations, cases).
• Drafting and editing of contracts, memos, policies, pleadings, and other legal documents.
• Attention to detail for fact‑checking, identifying over‑confident claims, jurisdictional pitfalls, and procedural risks.
