Director Sustainability (Programmes, Carbon and Climate)

About the role

The Director of Sustainability will lead complex climate and sustainability programmes across Islamabad and Gilgit, setting strategy, governance and stakeholder engagement while delivering carbon‑reduction and climate‑resilience outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sustainability programmes and portfolios with clear operating models, governance, KPIs and reporting.
• Conduct whole‑life carbon assessments, develop PAS 2080‑aligned carbon strategies and guide decarbonisation and energy‑transition pathways.
• Perform climate vulnerability assessments, implement nature‑based solutions and integrate climate risk into design and construction.
• Oversee LEED, WELL, Envision or equivalent certifications for large assets, establishing performance monitoring and governance frameworks.
• Manage ESIA/EIA processes, environmental plans, compliance and contribute to policy and green‑building codes.
• Run multi‑criteria and cost‑benefit analyses, economic sensitivity studies for design options, procurement models and investment priorities.
• Facilitate engagement with government, utilities, communities, NGOs and clients, and set up steering committees.
• Lead technical aspects of bids, develop funding, green‑finance and partnership pathways.
• Utilise Power BI and BIM‑linked dashboards to track carbon, energy and performance in real time.
• Build and mentor a technical team to deliver programme objectives.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience in sustainability, carbon credits, climate or environmental consulting, with leadership of large programmes.
• Degree in Civil, Environmental or related Engineering field (Master’s preferred).
• Accreditations such as LEED AP, Envision (ENV SP) or WELL AP.
• Proven track record delivering sustainability certifications for large assets.
• Experience with whole‑life carbon, LCA tools (e.g., OneClick LCA) and ISO 14064 or PAS 2080.
• Background in policy, strategy advisory and multi‑stakeholder facilitation.
• Hands‑on experience with Power BI and BIM360.
• Strong presentation skills for government and client engagements.
• Willingness to work between Islamabad and Gilgit and travel regularly.
