Fintech and Crypto Subject Matter Expert (Remote Contractor)

About the role

This remote, hourly contractor position is with SME Careers, an AI data‑services company. You will act as a Fintech / Crypto Subject Matter Expert, reviewing AI‑generated responses, creating gold‑standard content, and providing detailed feedback to improve model performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training content such as prompts, explanations, scenario analyses, risk write‑ups and user guidance for fintech and crypto topics.
• Evaluate, rank and annotate AI outputs for correctness, clarity, safety and regulatory compliance.
• Test model responses for inaccurate or unsafe financial advice, bias, and consistency across use cases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in fintech, payments, banking, crypto or adjacent domains (product, operations, risk, compliance, research, engineering or consulting).
• Strong understanding of payments flows, settlement, chargebacks, fees and major rails (card networks, ACH, wires).
• Deep knowledge of blockchain fundamentals, transaction lifecycle, consensus basics, token mechanics and custody/key‑management risks.
• Familiarity with high‑level compliance concepts such as KYC/AML, sanctions, consumer protection and disclosure practices.
