General Manager, Commercial

About the role

The company is seeking a General Manager – Commercial to lead its commercial function across buying, category management, pricing, assortment, supplier partnerships and commercial planning. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role is responsible for driving sustainable top‑line growth, enhancing customer value and expanding margins in a modern retail and grocery environment.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business targets into annual commercial and category plans and build growth roadmaps.
• Lead buying and category management, own assortment architecture and drive data‑led performance reviews.
• Negotiate supplier agreements and manage a team of Category Managers and Master Data resources.
• Set buying and selling price decisions, balance competitiveness with profitability and maintain strong value pricing.
• Develop strategic supplier relationships, improve rebates and joint business planning outcomes.
• Own the commercial calendar, promotional planning and trading rhythm, ensuring decisions boost customer satisfaction and value perception.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Supply Chain and Finance to improve execution.

Required profile

• 10‑15+ years of commercial leadership experience in grocery retail, FMCG or modern trade.
• Proven track record of delivering sales growth, customer satisfaction and margin improvement.
• Strong commercial acumen with a customer‑first mindset.
• Hands‑on operator with strong analytical and execution capabilities.
• Effective leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
