Head of Engineering, Payment Gateway

About the role

Moniepoint Inc. is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead its Payment Gateway platform, Monnify. The role will drive technical strategy, architecture and execution for a high‑volume, multi‑currency payment system serving merchants and developers across emerging markets.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the technical roadmap and architecture for the Monnify platform, covering payment ingestion, payouts, commerce tools and developer‑facing features.
• Lead multiple engineering teams through engineering managers, establishing quality standards and building organisational capability.
• Ensure platform reliability, scalability and security in a regulated environment.
• Own the end‑to‑end developer experience, including APIs, SDKs, documentation and integration ease.
• Partner with product, commercial and operations teams to align technical investments with business goals.
• Recruit, mentor and develop senior engineers and engineering managers to support rapid growth.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles.
• Proven track record of building and scaling large‑scale payment or financial platforms.
• Strong understanding of security, compliance and high‑availability requirements.
• Experience working in fast‑moving, international fintech environments.
