Health Officer - Health & Nutrition Programs

About the role

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) merged areas is hiring one Health Officer in Kurram District, within its Health & Nutrition department. The post reports to the Program Manager and covers a project of 5.5 months. Local candidates are given preference and female candidates are encouraged to apply.

The Health Officer provides strategic, technical and managerial leadership for PRCS health and nutrition programs, overseeing planning, implementation, quality assurance, stakeholder coordination, budget management, emergency preparedness and team development. The role works closely with the Program Manager, provincial and district authorities, Movement partners and field teams, and supports assessments, proposal development, donor reporting and emergency response design.

Key responsibilities

• Lead integrated health and nutrition programs, including quality assurance, case management, referrals, infection prevention and control and clinical governance.
• Strengthen community-based programming such as outreach, mother-to-mother and father-to-father support groups, community health workers and surveillance systems, and promote nutrition-sensitive programming linked to WASH, cash and voucher assistance and livelihoods.
• Lead rapid assessments, contingency planning and outbreak and emergency preparedness and response.
• Oversee supply chain and medical logistics: forecasting, procurement, distribution, stock management and compliance with national regulations and donor requirements.
• Support volunteers and local partners (CSOs, CBOs) and promote locally led programming and partner capacity strengthening.
• Maintain monitoring systems (HMIS, DHIS2, surveillance) and lead data-driven program reviews, while promoting accountability to affected populations through feedback and complaint mechanisms.
• Represent PRCS in coordination platforms, clusters and technical working groups, and contribute to proposals, donor engagement and donor reporting.
• Strengthen team capacity through mentoring, coaching and training, and support proposal preparation, budgeting and expenditure monitoring.
