Ignition SCADA Developer / Consultant (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Ignition SCADA Developer to design, build and support supervisory control and monitoring systems for industrial, utilities and process automation clients. The role is fully remote and focuses on the Ignition platform, covering gateway configuration, HMI/UI development, scripting and system integration.

Key responsibilities

• Design and configure Ignition Gateway, Vision and/or Perspective clients for process monitoring and visualization.
• Integrate PLCs/RTUs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, etc.) into Ignition tag structures.
• Configure and troubleshoot Modbus (RTU/TCP), OPC‑UA and Ethernet/IP protocols.
• Develop SQL‑backed tag historian pipelines for time‑series data storage, trending and reporting.
• Write Python/Jython scripts for automation logic, event handling and custom UI behavior.
• Set up alarm notification modules with escalation paths for critical faults.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing and go‑live commissioning.
• Produce control narratives, P&IDs, network diagrams and O&M manuals for client hand‑off.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years hands‑on experience with Ignition (Gateway, Vision, Perspective).
• Strong knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus, OPC‑UA and Ethernet/IP.
• Experience integrating PLC/RTU platforms (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Modicon).
• Proficiency in SQL for database design and reporting.
• Ability to read and produce P&IDs, control narratives and system architecture diagrams.
• Comfort working on multiple concurrent client projects in a consulting environment.
